Hulled hemp seeds – also known as ‘hemp seed hearts’ or ‘hemp nuts’ – are the white inner meat or nut of the hemp seed, with the hull or shell removed.

These mighty seeds pack an energetic and nutritious punch that can be safely added to virtually any diet. There are so many ways to add hulled hemp seeds into your diet. Eat them straight as a snack; sprinkle them on other foods, fruits, or vegetables; use them as a garnish on a wide array of prepared foods or salads; add and mix them into sauces, dips, marinades, yogurts, power drinks, and smoothies; or use them in baking as an ingredient in breads, muffins or cookies – just like any other seed or nut.

Three tablespoons of hulled hemp seeds (30g) provide 770kJ of energy, 180 calories, and 10g of protein. As a source of polyunsaturated essential fatty acids, they provide 10g of Omega-6 and 3g of Omega-3 per 30g serving. Hulled hemp seeds contain zero trans fat.

Hulled hemp seeds are very high in phosphorus – just three tablespoons contain 45% of your Recommended Daily Value. That same 30g serving also provides 10% niacin, 30% thiamine, 20% vitamin B6, and 15% folate toward your Recommended Daily Value.

Hulled hemp seeds are free from gluten, cholesterol, nuts, sodium, and lactose – and being plant based, makes them suitable for people with gluten or lactose intolerance as well as various ethnic and religious dietary requirements. It’s also a great choice for children and pregnant women because of its high natural concentration of vitamin B1 and folate. Hulled hemp seeds are the main ingredient used in the production of non-dairy hemp beverage.
